Day 25 (Malaysia): Homemade Jap Bread and Kaya, Vegetarian Pork Strips and Mai Fun

Advertisements

So I forgot to mention that last night Pearl retried her Japanese Bread recipe (click here for day 23’s fail).

Jap Bread Win.

Baker Pearl trying a piece.

And in the cold light of morning… popiah.

Vegetarian Fried Noodles from Seremban with tofu, faux meat, cabbage, Asian greens and bean sprouts, wrapped in a pandan leaf.

The day before, Pearl called Aunty Mary in the afternoon and asked her to make Kaya (a Malaysian coconut jam), as I had not yet tried her recipe.

Aunty Mary then stood at the stove for three hours, stirring.

Homemade Kaya has a creamier consistency than store bought.

Pearl’s bread was slighty dense, but homely.

Dinnertime: More of Aunty Maan’s awesome cooking.

Fried Vegetarian meat (two different brands of pork strips on the left and right).

Sweetcorn soup.

Fried Mai Fun: vermicelli noodles with cabbage, carrots and shredded omelette.

I topped mine with sweet chilli sauce.
